The Films of Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh

This June, The Loft Cinema celebrates international superstar Michelle Yeoh, star of the current hit Everything Everywhere All At Once, with a high-flying series featuring some of her most electrifying and entertaining films! Born in Malaysia, Yeoh studied dance before injuries waylaid those ambitions and she turned to acting. She first established herself as an action star in such Hong Kong martial arts classics as Supercop (1992), opposite Jackie Chan, and Johnnie To’s The Heroic Trio (1993).

International fame soon came calling with her starring role in the James Bond thriller, Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), and she became an arthouse icon thanks to her powerhouse performance in Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2002).  From big screen dramas like Memoirs of a Geisha (2005) and comedies like Crazy Rich Asians (2018), to television franchises like Star Trek: Discovery (2017-2020) and Marvel blockbusters like Shang-chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), Michelle Yeoh does it all and remains an indelible screen presence who grounds every frame she inhabits with authenticity and explosive talent.
