Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy

Sweet Lincoln’s mullet! San Diego’s top-rated TV anchorman is always ready for a little “afternoon delight” in the gloriously goofy comedy Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, one of the funniest, most endlessly quotable movies of the past decade. Will Ferrell is Ron Burgundy, swinging ‘70s super stud and lead anchor of San Diego’s own Channel 4 Evening News. Ron is the epitome of the enlightened modern male who firmly believes women have a place in the newsroom – as long as they stick to covering cat fashion shows or late-breaking cooking stories. So when feminism marches into the newsroom in the form of ambitious young reporter Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), Ron is willing to play along at first—as long as Veronica stays in her place. But when Veronica refuses to settle for being eye candy and steps behind the news desk, it’s more than a battle between two perfectly coiffed anchor-persons … it’s war. Will Ron and his fellow chauvinist pig Channel 4 Evening News Team pals Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), Champ Kind (David Koechner) and Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd) learn to open up and show their sensitive sides (cue the soothing jazz flute music), or will they just grow their mustaches out? Prepare yourself for a hilariously ridiculous ride to Pleasure Town, and remember: Stay Classy. (Dir. by Adam McKay, 2004, USA, 94 mins., Rated R) Digital
