The crowd-pleasing documentary Ask Dr. Ruth chronicles the incredible life of Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a Holocaust survivor who became America’s most famous sex therapist.

Captivating and entertainingoffers a unique glimpse into the personal life of a woman who has made a gigantic impact on pop culture and sexual liberation.” – Ali Shimkus, Slug Magazine

With her diminutive, 4-foot-7-inch frame, thick German accent, and uninhibited approach to sex therapy and education, Dr. Ruth transformed the conversation around sexuality by hosting multiple radio and television shows throughout the 1980s and 1990s. As she approaches her 90th birthday and shows no signs of slowing down, Dr. Ruth revisits her painful past and unlikely path to a career at the forefront of the sexual revolution. Her traumatic childhood, when at age 10 she was sent to an orphanage in Switzerland at the start of WWII, is told through her heartbreaking letters to and from her family, brought to life with creative animation. Later she emigrated to Israel, lived on a kibbutz and became a sharpshooter in the military; eventually coming to New York, where she found her calling as the woman who spoke the truth about sex.
