Beware! The Blob

“It’s Loose Again, Eating Everyone!”

No groovy hippie is safe when The Blog returns to spread its angry goo over every pair of bell bottoms it can find in this outrageously campy 1972 sequel (originally released as Son of Blob) to the original 1958 classic, The Blob! A none-too-bright geologist unwittingly brings home a weird piece of frozen debris from the North Pole.  So far, so good.  But when the hunk of frosty junk accidentally thaws out, the hungrier-than-ever blood red Blob comes to life once again, devours a cute kitten, and decides it’s time to take over the world.   Soon, the hungry jello shot is consuming everything in its path and terrorizing the town.   No one is safe as it creeps and crawls into a bowling alley, oozes its way across an ice rink, and crashes a swinging teen party, becoming grotesquely bloated with the blood of its victims.   Can this bizarre creature be stopped, and how can it manage to digest all those polyester pant suits without throwing up?  Featuring a Love Boat-full of ‘70s stars including Larry Hagman (who also directed the movie!), Burgess Meredith, Dick Van Patten, Robert Walker, Carol Lynley, Godfrey Cambridge and Cindy Williams (“Shirley” from Laverne and Shirley), this is one bad Blob that can’t be beat!  (Dir. by Larry Hagman, 1972, USA, 91 mins., Rated PG)
