Blade II

In this blood-soaked, adrenaline-pumping action/horror fun machine sequel, Wesley Snipes returns to kick a whole lot of vampire butt as ultra-cool Marvel superhero Blade, and this time he’s doing it with the help of genre-loving filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro!

“A terrific B-movie … stylish, fast-paced and comfortable with its own ridiculousness.” – Nathan Rabin, A.V. Club

Once again based on Marvel’s Tomb of Dracula comic book series, Blade II continues the adventure which began with the original 1998 cult classic, Blade. When the world is threatened by a new and deadlier breed of super vampires called Reapers, the legendary sunglasses-wearing, hot car-driving, half human/half vampire hero Blade and his mentor Whistler (Kris Kristofferson) must join forces with the Bloodpack, an elite team of vampire warriors made up of Blade’s sworn enemies. The ravenous, bloodsucking Reapers must be destroyed at all costs, setting the stage for a gore-drenched, bone-crunching battle royale exploding with spectacular effects and martial arts action, as director del Toro adds to all the pulp splendor with a barrage of gorgeous visuals filtered through a gothic haze of Mario Bava-esque neon and shadows. Also starring Ron Perlman and The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus. (Dir. by Guillermo del Toro, 2002, Germany/USA, in English/Romanian/Czech with English subtitles, 117 mins., Rated R)
