Crack that whip! It’s RAIDERS OF THE LOST RIP-OFF MONTH at Mondo Mondays, featuring a hidden treasure trove of awesomely awful Indy knock-offs guaranteed to melt your face!
“These women are serious about their taste in men!” A female Indiana Jones tracks down the fabled cannibal Piranha Women, who devour men (and only men!) with guacamole, in this insanely goofy Raiders spoof starring ‘80s trash movie queens Shannon Tweed and Adrienne Barbeau, not to mention Bill Maher as a male chauvinist pig!
“Tongue in cheek fun! An enjoyably trashy comedy about feminism, chauvinism and avocados.” – Fright.com
In Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death, Tweed (Hot Dog: The Movie) stars as sultry university professor Margo Hunt, who is hired by the CIA to find the radical feminist Dr. Kurtz (Barbeau, Swamp Thing), a former chat-show host who disappeared into the Avocado Jungle and allegedly turned into a man-eating Piranha Woman with her own tribe of devoted female followers. Aided only by her sexually-frustrated male pig of a guide, Jim (a young Bill Maher), and a vapid grad student named Bunny (Karen Mistal, Return of the Killer Tomatoes), Margo enters the heart of trashiness, battling The Donahews, a tribe of emasculated men who love handmade pot-holders, as well as the vicious Piranha Women, who eat their men with guacamole dip but still find time to give themselves a full Maybelline make-over. Throw in a government conspiracy involving a fake avocado shortage, a plot to turn the Piranha Women into mindless Malibu housewives, and a slew of spot-on movie riffs (plus a lot of funny feminist jabs at the male-dominated world), and you’ve got a trashy but fun comedy/adventure that might actually have something to say. Or not. From the screenwriter of Pretty Woman! (Dir. by J.D. Athens, 1989, USA, 90 mins., Rated PG-13)
