Crafting a deliriously twisted cinematic web of suspense, shock and eroticism, celebrated writer/director François Ozon (Swimming Pool) makes a kinky return to the thriller genre with Double Lover – an intense exploration of a woman venturing into dangerous romance.
“Dangerously sexy and perversely funny.” – Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
Lovely but timid Chloé (Marine Vacth, Young & Beautiful), who works as a guard at a museum in Paris, seeks to shore up her resiliency and enters psychoanalysis. In Paul Meyer (Jérémie Renier, In Bruges), the sensitive patient finds a caring psychiatrist who helps her overcome bouts with depression. Following the end of the treatment, both realize that they have fallen in love, and they move in together. But Chloé soon comes to believe that Paul is keeping a secret, and she impulsively visits another psychiatrist. Spiraling emotional and sexual stakes will push all three of them to extremes, forcing Chloé to confront her most deeply buried secrets and desires, in order to solve a mystery and save herself. Also starring legendary actress Jacqueline Bisset, Double Lover is a surprise-filled rollercoaster of a thriller, based on a novel by Joyce Carol Oates. (Dir by Francois Ozon, 2017, France/Belgium, in French with English subtitles, 107 mins., Not Rated)
