Celebrate the late Ray Liotta and one of his greatest performances with a big screen presentation of Martin Scorsese’s criminally entertaining 1990 classic, Goodfellas!
Martin Scorsese’s wickedly entertaining 1990 masterpiece charts the ruthless rise and spectacular fall of real-life gangster Henry Hill (Ray Liotta), a Brooklyn kid who dreams of being a wiseguy, as he works his way up through Murder, Inc., from parking Cadillacs to pulling million dollar heists alongside high-rolling Jimmy the Gent (Robert De Niro), and Joe Pesci’s “don’t-call-him-funny” psychotic loose cannon, Tommy DeVito. Scorsese’s kinetic style perfectly matches Hill’s crazed ride through the criminal underworld, capturing the changing eras and fashions (from the mid-1950s through the 1970s) via spot-on period detail and a golden oldies soundtrack that bounces from the Ronettes to the Rolling Stones. Between Pesci’s rage and Liotta’s coke-addled depravity, De Niro somehow emerges as the most restrained goodfella of the bunch. Also featuring stellar performances from Lorraine Bracco and Paul Sorvino, Scorsese’s Oscar-winning crime classic stands as one of the best Hollywood films of the 1990s.
