‘Tis the season for a merry month of Ho-Ho-Holiday Classics presented under the stars at Open Air Cinema!
“A wildly original roller-coaster ride of hilarious mischief.” – Richard Corliss, Time Magazine
In Joe Dante’s wickedly funny, deliciously scary Gremlins, a lovable, furry little Christmas dream multiplies into a horde of nasty, scaly little Christmas nightmares, and the holidays will never be the same again! Rand Peltzer (Hoyt Axton) is an inventor who hasn’t successfully invented anything. But this Christmas, he’s bringing his family something special – a small, cuddly creature known as a Mogwai. The little fella comes with three crucial instructions for its owner, and if Rand’s son Billy (Zach Galligan) can adhere to these rules, his new Mogwai, named Gizmo, will make a great pet. But, of course, he doesn’t follow the rules, and all hell breaks loose in sleepy little Kingston Falls. Soon, it’s up to Billy and his girlfriend, Kate (Phoebe Cates), to stop the mischievous, murderous little monsters, now known as Gremlins, from destroying everything – and everyone – in sight! Part sci-fi, part comedy, part family drama, and 100% pure Christmas terror, Gremlins is a fabulous cinematic gift that keeps on giving, year after year! (Dir. by Joe Dante, 1984, USA, 121 min., Rated PG)
