Celebrate an early Easter with Jimmy Stewart and his rabbit pal Harvey in the Oscar-winning 1950 comedy classic, Harvey!
Jimmy Stewart gives one of his most beloved performances in the whimsical comedy Harvey, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Mary Chase. Stewart (who received his fourth Academy Award nomination for Best Actor) stars as the good-natured and eccentric Elwood P. Dowd, whose constant companion is Harvey, a six-foot tall rabbit that only he can see. To his sister, Veta Louise (Josephine Hull, who took home the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award), Elwood’s unusual obsession with Harvey has been a thorn in the side of her plans to marry off her daughter. When Veta Louise decides to put Elwood in a mental hospital, a hilarious mix-up occurs and she finds herself committed instead. It’s up to Elwood to straighten out the mess with his kindly philosophy, and his “imaginary” friend, in this charming comedy classic about the power of belief. (Dir. by Henry Koster, 1950, USA, 104 mins., Not Rated)
