Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Steven Spielberg returned to the thrill-a-minute world of Indiana Jones in this action-packed prequel to his smash adventure Raiders of the Lost Ark.

“One of the most relentlessly nonstop action pictures ever made, with a virtuoso series of climactic sequences that never stop for a second. It’s a roller-coaster ride, a visual extravaganza, a technical triumph, and a whole lot of fun.” – Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

It’s 1935, and renowned archaeologist/expert in the Occult, Dr. Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford), is searching for precious mystical stones stolen from an Indian tribe. After barely escaping a raging Shanghai nightclub brawl, Indy crash-lands into the wilds of India where he uncovers a sinister scheme that has enslaved a remote village’s children in a fortress-like mine. Naturally, Indy must save the children, retrieve the sacred stones and avoid becoming a slave himself to the evil Thuggee cult. All in a day’s work for the world’s most famous trouble magnet! Along for the raucous rescue attempt, which includes a harrowing roller coaster ride in a mineshaft, sword battles on a precarious rope bridge and rooms crawling with creepy critters, is Indy’s pint-sized sidekick, Short Round (Ke Huy Quan) as well as a sassy nightclub singer, Willie Scott (Kate Capshaw). Majorly fun and sometimes even genuinely scary, Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom is a thrilling throwback to the B-movie adventures of yesteryear! (Dir. by Steven Spielberg, 1984, USA, 118 mins., Rated PG)
