Isle of Dogs, Wes Anderson’s second film crafted through the magic of stop-motion animation (following Fantastic Mr. Fox), blends the trademark quirky style of one of cinema’s most visionary directors with an incredible cast of voices including Bryan Cranston, Greta Gerwig, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Murray, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton and more. When, by executive decree, all the canine pets of Megasaki City are exiled to the vast Trash Island, 12-year-old Atari Kobayashi sets off alone in a miniature Junior-Turbo Prop and flies across the river in search of his bodyguard-dog, Spots. There, with the assistance of his newfound mongrel friends, he begins an epic journey that will decide the fate and future of the entire Prefecture. A delight for both families and fans of high-concept cinema, Isle of Dogs is a doggone good mix of laughs, stunning artistry and the emotional bond between a boy and his dog. (Dir. by Wes Anderson, 2018, USA, in English/Japanese, 101 mins., Rated PG-13)
