“An absolute charmer! Matilda is a darkly comic, delightfully off-the-wall picture that both kids and adults will lap up.” – Caroline Westbrook, Empire

Based on the classic children’s novel by Roald Dahl, Matilda is a modern day fairytale that mixes hilarious humor, magical hijinks and whole lot of kid power!  Matilda (Mara Wilson) is a super-smart little girl who’s woefully misunderstood by her lowbrow parents (Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman), who quite cruelly ignore her.  As she grows older, she begins to discover she has telekinetic powers.  Not until a friendly teacher shows her kindness for the first time does she realize that she can use her magical powers to even the score, and maybe even help her friends as well.   Soon, all the villains in her life, from her stinky brother, to her rotten parents, to the awful school principal, Miss Trunchbull, will begin to see that Matilda means business!  But will she learn that she doesn’t have to get mad to get even?   (Dir. by Danny DeVito, 1996, USA, 102 mins., Rated PG)
