Mr. Jones is a bold and heartfelt movie with a real Lean-ian sweep.” – Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

This gripping historical thriller from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Agnieszka Holland (Europa Europa), based on true events and set on the eve of WWII, sees Hitler’s rise to power and Stalin’s Soviet propaganda machine pushing their “utopia” to the Western world. Meanwhile an ambitious young journalist, Gareth Jones (James Norton, Little Women) travels to Moscow to uncover the truth behind the propaganda, but then gets a tip that could expose an international conspiracy, one that could cost him and his informant their lives. As he struggles to break the story to the world, Jones finds an ally in New York Times reporter Ada Brooks (Vanessa Kirby, The Crown) and an adversary in pro-Stalin journalist Walter Duranty (Peter Sarsgaard, Kinsey). With danger mounting on all sides, Jones goes on a life-or-death journey to uncover the truth behind the façade that would later inspire George Orwell’s seminal novel, Animal Farm.
