Don’t miss this special screening of the powerful new documentary Revolution of our Times, featuring a post-film Q&A with  Hongkonger Sanho Chung, Ph.D. Candidate in Political Science at the University of Arizona, and Tony Perkins, Arizona Public Media news anchor/reporter, moderated by Will Conroy,  screenwriter and Arizona Inn president!

Over the past fifty years, Hongkongers have fought for freedom and democracy but have yet to succeed. In 2019, the “Extradition Bill” to China opened Pandora’s box, turning Hong Kong into a battlefield against the Chinese authoritarian rule. Award-winning director Kiwi Chow (Ten Years; Beyond the Dream) made the new documentary, Revolution of our Times (which had its World Premiere at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival) to tell the story of the movement, both with a macro view of its historical context and up close and personal on the front lines. The 2019 movement is often labelled with the characteristics of “decentralized leadership”, “be water” (flexible tactics), “do not split” and “blossoming everywhere” (protest all over the territory). With stunning scope and insight, Kiwi Chow’s film follows seven teams of protestors, all with different stories, in the process creating a comprehensive, moving and powerful portrait of the versatile movement.
