“Roaches have never tasted meat … until now!” The perfect gross-out ‘80s horror flick for the carnivorous cockroach connoisseur has arrived, and it’s guaranteed to make you squirm! In The Nest, the quiet island town of Northport, where nothing ever happens, suddenly finds itself overrun by nasty cockroaches. Sheriff Tabell believes that genetic experiments being conducted by the mysterious INTEC corporation are the cause. Looking to minimize this potential disaster, befuddled Mayor Johnson (Robert Lansing, who also dealt with another plague of creepy crawlies in Empire of the Ants), calls the mainland for help. Dr. Hubbard (Terri Treas) arrives just as things go from bad to worse and these ordinary cockroaches develop a taste for human flesh and begin devouring the locals. And to add to the B-movie madness, these super-hungry roaches are genetically mutating and literally becoming whatever they eat, leading to some truly outrageous roach/human hybrid monsters that must be seen to be (dis)believed. Blending grisly gore with dark humor and gag-inducing practical SFX, The Nest really delivers the heebie-jeebies thanks to its frequent use of thousands of real live cockroaches on the rampage (no CGI, thank you very much).
