The Empire Ranch Foundation proudly presents the classic 1976 Western, The Outlaw Josey Wales, directed by and starring Clint Eastwood, as their 8th annual summer Western Movie at the Loft Cinema. He later makes his way West after the Civil War, determined to live a useful and helpful life. He joins up with a group of endangered settlers who need the protection that a man as tough and experienced as he is can provide. Unfortunately, his past catches up with him and Josey is now an outlaw. Considered a “must-see” Western by legendary director Orson Welles, The Outlaw Josey Wales also stars Sandra Locke (who went on to work with Eastwood in six of his other movies), Chief Dan George (Oscar-nominee for Little Big Man), John Vernon, Bill McKinney, Sheb Wooley and Royal Dano. The film was selected by the US Library of Congress for the National Film Registry and nominated for the Academy Award for Original Music Score. Portions of the movie were filmed on the Empire Ranch and in the Patagonia area, with Arizona serving as the primary location for the film. (Dir. by Clint Eastwood, 1976, USA, 135 mins., Rated PG)
