Join community groups and local faith leaders for a conversation on the rise of Christian Nationalism. An ecumenical and community collaboration between Secular AZ, Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, Arizona Faith Network and the Poor People’s Campaign.
Secular AZ was formed in 2010 to ensure a secular state government and to educate lawmakers and the public about the importance of secular issues. They advocate on behalf of all individuals who believe that public policy free of religious preference is the best way to ensure freedom of conscience for Arizonans of all faiths and of none. Check them out at SecularAZ.org
BJC, based in Washington DC, has been advocating for church/state separation since the 1940s, including filing amicus briefs at the U.S. Supreme Court, lobbying on Capitol Hill and testifying in front of Congressional committees. BJC formed Christians Against Christian Nationalism in 2019 and thousands of Americans have signed on to their statement denouncing this movement seen as a direct threat to democracy. Visit ChristiansAgainstChristianNationalism.org for more details and resources.
This is a rental of The Loft Cinema, presented by Secular AZ.
