Thunder Run

Showtimes

Pop your clutch and put the pedal to the metal during KEEP ON TRUCKIN’ MONTH at Mondo Mondays, featuring more cheesy 18-wheel mayhem than you can shake a gear shift at! And that’s a big 10-4, good buddy

“This is one fun and exciting B-movie action flick … bad movie fanatics will find a lot of cinematic cheese here.” – The Horn Section

“No way out. No way through. No way left but to GO FOR IT!” A geriatric truck driver and his teen grandson somehow end up transporting a shipment of dangerous plutonium through the Arizona desert in a tricked-out, flame-throwing, highly-weaponized 18-wheeler targeted for hijacking by a team of vicious international terrorists in this whacked-out, under-appreciated ‘80s trucker action flick from Cannon Films! Yes, it’s Mad Matlock: Beyond Thunderdome-time as Korean War vet and crotchety grandpa Charlie (Forrest Tucker, F-Troop) and his too-cool grandson rip up the highway trying to outwit, outrun and outmaneuver the bad guys (who are in hot pursuit driving the least-terrorizing vehicles imaginable: rocket-mounted, camouflage-painted Volkswagen Beetles) in gramps’s ridiculously high-tech, cartoonishly-modified big rig (complete with flame-throwers, oil slick-jets and battering rams), as they try and untangle a government conspiracy involving plutonium, military secrets and men with mustaches. Want to see an 18-wheeler jumping a moving train in the pre-CGI era?   Well, look no further, because you’re about to load up on cheesy metal-crunching, windshield-popping, exhaust-blowing B-movie thrills in Thunder Run! (Dir. by Gary Hudson, 1986, USA, 90 mins., Rated PG-13)
