From celebrated director Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, No Other Choice) comes this ravishing crime thriller filled with kinky twists and devilish surprises. Park presents a gripping, sensual tale of two women – one a young Japanese woman living on a secluded estate, and the other a Korean woman who is hired to serve as her new handmaiden, but is secretly plotting with a con man to defraud her employer of a large inheritance. Inspired by the novel Fingersmith by British author Sarah Waters, The Handmaiden borrows the most dynamic elements of its source material and combines it with Park’s singular, highly stylized vision to create an unforgettable cinematic experience.
