Celebrate the 100th birthday of one of the funniest men in movies, MEL BROOKS (born June 28, 1926), with a special screening of SPACEBALLS, presented in a new “Quote-A-Long” version featuring all the movie’s best lines up on the big screen so you can let the quotes fly with a theater full of lifelong fans. Thanks for all the laughs, Mr. Brooks, and “May the Schwartz Be With You!”
Blast off into hilarity with this epic, uproarious space spoof to end all space spoofs, written and directed by the one-and-only Mel Brooks! In Spaceballs, everything from Star Wars (natch) to Alien, 2001 and Planet of the Apes gets ruthlessly skewered when the evil Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) attempts to steal all the air from planet Druidia, and the spunky Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga), her loyal robot companion Dot Matrix (voiced by Joan Rivers), the dashing Lone Star (Bill Pullman), and his faithful partner Barf (John Candy) – a half-man/half-dog creature who’s his own best friend – set out to stop him! But with the forces of darkness closing in on them at ludicrous speed, they’ll need the help of a wise imp named Yogurt (Brooks) and the mystical power of “The Schwartz” to bring peace and merchandising rights to the entire galaxy! A hilarious and highly-quotable space comedy from the demented mind that brought the world such classics as Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein, Spaceballs is the only film that can make the jump to hyperspace hilarity in less than twelve parsecs! (Dir. by Mel Brooks, 1987, USA, 96 mins., Rated PG)
