A group of high school students sets off on a school trip to discover the ruins of Pompeii. They are seized by a sense of vertigo and allow themselves to be overwhelmed by desire and anger, until they surrender completely. Critics are calling it one of the best films of the year, one that redraws the boundaries of how stories can be told, mapping desire across time, and the tragic reality that we are unable to fully understand what’s happening to us as it happens.
Directed by Marine Atlan, 2026, France, in French and Italian with English subtitles, 145 minutes, NR
