It’s multiple movies for the price of one during TWISTED ANTHOLOGIES MONTH at Mondo Mondays, featuring an avalanche of anthology horror flicks packed with more scary stories than inhumanly possible!
“You’ll Pray for Dawn!” In this creepy and campy compendium of freaky fairly tale-inspired horror tales, an impatient uncle attempts to calm his obnoxious nephew by telling him three wildly inappropriate stories intended to put the child to sleep, but that will probably keep him awake for the rest of his life! In “The Black Forest,” medieval madness reigns as two evil, blood-crazed witches and their male love slave (Scott Valentine, “Nick” on Family Ties) attempt to resurrect their dead sister via a virgin sacrifice, leading to some surprising results. In “Little Red Riding Hood,” a raunchy, modern-day update of the classic tale, a teen jogger on her way to grandmother’s house accidentally swaps medicine bags with a drug-addicted werewolf and the hunt is on. And in the gonzo finale, “Goldi Lox and the Three Bears,” a criminal family trio named The Baers (led by Mama Baer, played by future Oscar-nominee Melissa Leo, Frozen River), cross paths with a telekinetic, homicidal Goldilocks and things get real splattery. A gory, tacky, wonderfully twisted homage to the heartwarming tradition of bedtime stories, Deadtime Stories will keep you dreaming and screaming long into the night. (Dir. by Jeffrey Delman, 1986, USA, 93 min., Rated R)
