But uh oh, dogging Ferris’ trail at every turn is uptight high-school principal Rooney, who, with the help of Ferris’ snotty sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey), is hell- bent on catching Bueller in the act of class-cutting. A winning combination of slapstick, satire and social commentary on status-seeking and parental indifference, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off also serves as a hilarious instruction manual for adolescents everywhere. What to fake out your parents? Just set up a stereo system with snoring sounds and an elaborate rope pulley and mannequin system! Want to impress your significant other? Try climbing onto a parade float and lip-syncing the heck out of The Beatles’ Twist and Shout while the whole city dances along!
