When a high school mean girl is possessed by a demon and develops an insatiable appetite for the tender flesh of her male classmates, her “plain Jane” best friend has to try and put an end her pal’s reign of hormonally-charged horror, save the boys, and go after the Satan-worshipping rock band responsible for the whole mess. Yes, it’s just your typical female-driven teen/horror/comedy/coming-of-age monster mash spiked with a wicked sense of humor, boundless metaphors and gruesome gore! In Jennifer’s Body, director Karyn Kusama (The Invitation) teams up with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (Juno) to unleash a fun, genre-bending horror flick that combines brutal violence with high camp to craft an incisive, blood-soaked satire on female relationships, headlined by Megan Fox as cheerleader-from-hell Jennifer, and Amanda Seyfried as good girl Needy, with both receiving stellar support from a killer supporting cast, including Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons as a one-armed, toupee-wearing teacher, future box-office heartthrob Chris Pratt as a goofy rookie cop, and comedian Amy Sedaris as a really bad mom. (Dir. by Karyn Kusama, 2009, USA, 102 mins., Rated R)
