“Objet a” is a psychoanalytic term from Jacques Lacan that means the unattainable object cause of desire. Oren’s “wickedly kinky” (Variety) satire follows Ingeborg and Adam, a husband and wife who are visionary surgeons bound by love, control and fixations. She is compelled to steal objects while he strives to become one. When an accident introduces Gaia to the couple, she unsettles the careful balance that takes the newly-formed throuple to unexpected psychological and physical explorations.
Directed by Ann Oren, 2026, Germany, in German with English subtitles, 95 minutes, NR
