Anna, a Korean adoptee, cares for her aging parents while they care for her, in a fragile balance of meeting one another’s needs. When a Florida heat wave shatters their routine, Anna’s future is uncertain until she creates a world where she can thrive. Anna and her sister Emily, who lives in New York, share a loving but tenuous relationship, while Emily and her father struggle to navigate an underfunded healthcare system, exposing systematic inequality for those with cognitive disabilities that can quickly drive a seemingly middle-class family toward the margins. Both Sargent and Ahn share a touching rapport as sisters, illuminating the cracks, faults, and bonds that ultimately unify them. A warmly personal film from director Liz Sargent, with her sister in the role of Anna.
