The Return of Swamp Thing
“America’s favorite superhero is back in action!” It’s time to get swampy with this mutated, moss-ridden sci-fi/horror/comedy extravaganza that proves it’s not easy being green, especially when you’re in love with Heather Locklear! In this splashy sequel to the 1982 original, our reluctant water-logged superhero Swamp Thing (Dick Durock) returns to do battle with the villainous Dr. Anton Arcane (Louis Jourdan, returning from the first film), who will stop at nothing to create a rampaging army of mutated swamp animal/human being hybrids that he calls “Un-Men,” all in an attempt to somehow gain enteral life. But when Arcane’s plucky stepdaughter Abigail (Heather Locklear) shows up in the Florida swamps to try and stop his shenanigans, the demented doctor’s crazed plans call forth Swamp Thing, who must not only defeat Dr. Arcane and his Un-Men monsters, but also find time to pitch woo with Abigail (but it’s OK, because she’s a vegetarian). Swamped with campy action, goofy dialogue, and tender human/Swamp Thing love scenes, this comic-book come-to-life also features a rubbery explosion of awesome ‘80s practical effects that give us a leech man, a roach-faced dude and a guy with an elephant growing out of the side of his head.
